Arlington Tiny House

Arlington Tiny HouseA new tiny house in Clarendon, Arlington was over the weekend open for tours.

Interested members of the public were showed around the 860 square foot house constructed by local home builder Arlington Designer Homes.

Andrew Moore, President of Arlington Designer Homes said that the house was designed and built for the environmentally-conscious family that is seeking to downsize.

“This sensibly-organized, energy-efficient home could be a model for accessory dwelling units throughout the county. The home offers the latest in energy saving technology, including energy efficient Jeld-Wen windows and doors, Hardie siding, low VOC paints, and LED lights,” he said.

The tiny house is not for sale, but is rather a proof of concept as it seeks to be certified under the Arlington Green Home Choice Program.

Mr. Moore said that his company is adapting to changing housing trends, especially in Northern Virginia where more and more clients are looking for smaller and well designed spaces.
