This Tiny House in Hawaii is Both Cozy and Functional

Can downsizing turn into upgrading? Paradise Tiny Homes think so, and their latest project builds their case.

The Hawaii based company has come up with a new beautiful design, which they have dubbed ‘The Oasis’.

The first thing that catches your eyes is the color blue which goes well with the island, known for its vibrancy in colors. By being so Hawaiian, the house avoids being dull and ordinary.

Ellie and Dan Madsen – the brother and sister duo that owns Paradise Tiny Homes, designed and gave life to this beauty.

First and foremost, its setting is simply amazing. The lush surroundings and vibrant vegetation provide a million dollar backdrop. When many people picture tiny living or off-grid living, this is what they have in mind.

The Oasis is 260-square-foot, but the inside is so spacious it feels bigger. Enhancing this even further are the large sliding windows and the two half moon windows that bring maximum sunlight in. There are also some smaller windows, particularly next to the staircase and in the loft.

You will never need any artificial lighting during the day.

The living area has enough space for two, and includes a breakfast bar; probably the only one I’ve ever seen in a tiny house. Seated next to the two large half moon windows, you have a front row seat to nature every morning as you enjoy your coffee.

Heading to the loft bedroom, you’ll find the sunlit staircase that have in-built storage. They were also able to fit a full size refrigerator under the staircase right next to the kitchen.

The bedroom is spacious and well lit using both electricity and sunlight. I love the beautiful lights above the bed. The decor and detailing is on point.

If the storage downstairs was not enough, you’ll be happy to find more storage drawers underneath the bed.

Another beautiful feature of The Oasis is the bathroom, which you’ll find on the opposite end of the living area.

It is blue-tiled with a sliding glass door. There is a rain forest shower, hanging plants and a skylight. Blindfolded there, you’d be forgiven to think you’re outdoors.

The shower extends outward of the structure of the home to sit over the tongue of its trailer foundation.

The coolest feature of the house is in the kitchen. I’m not talking about the plentiful countertops, or all the amenities and appliances you have come to expect.

I’m referring to the window that opens outwards, transforming into an outdoor bar, that makes the deck the perfect place to entertain. Very clever and impressive.

Describing the tiny house, the company wrote, “Much of this home’s impressiveness comes of the details in craftsmanship, style, and livability. Hawaiian curly mango wood is not only used as indoor and outdoor bartops but also ties in the stair-treads, shelving, and window sills. Exposed Ceiling beams, tile detailing around window and backsplash, and stainless steel countertops add a contemporary edge.”

Paradise Tiny Homes say their houses are “built on super solid trailers.” They are transportable on most roadways, and upon purchase, the company can co-ordinate these logistics.

The houses are built and sold on the big island of Hawaii.
